VFW Post 2424 provided the parking crew for the Valley Veterans Ride for Heroes (VVR4H) on September 10, 2022. Sponsored by VFW District 11, the VVR4H is a bicycle ride which raises funds to help struggling combat veterans dealing with wartime trauma through the services of Boulder Crest Retreat. This event has become the biggest VFW fundraiser in Virginia, donating $48,000 to BCR last year. Eight VFW Posts worked together to make this event work. With the exception of the Ride Director and the ham radio vehicles, every person involved in putting the ride together is a veteran. Not just a bicycle ride, the VVR4H is an event showcasing America's military history through displays and living history reenactors. This year, we were honored to have the state VFW Commander, Geoff Lyster with us as a rider.
